Tylden was the first station on the branch line from Carlsruhe to Daylesford, Victoria. This branch line conveyed much of the produce and timber from the area and was a vital link for residents to places abroad; roads in the area were very poor until the early to mid 20th century. A section of this picturesque branch line is still maintained and operated by the Daylesford Spa Country Railway as tourist railway, operating from Daylesford to Bullarto at the summit of the great divide.

This type of station was a common design right across the Victorian Railways and found used on quiet branch and busy main lines alike. It was constructed in many different configurations of the same basic design.

Tylden railway station, a former station on the Daylesford railway line in VictoriaAustralia, was situated about 2.4 km to the east of Tylden township, near Central Road. The station opened at the same time as the Carlsruhe to Trentham section of the line on 16 February 1880, closing on or before 3 July 1978 when the line was closed. The tracks have been dismantled and the station building has been removed or demolished, but a single platform embankment remains.
